Armando Corso



He was born in Genoa on Frbruary 25th 1929, he gOt his degree in Mechanical and Naval Engineering in 1954. He worked first at "Italsider" and then at "Italimpianti", and obtained more and more important appointments in the field of Operative Research, in Buisiness Planning, Programming and Developing till he was appointed Assistant to the Managing Director of "Italimpianti". He held important offices in several National Associations: he was the President of the Italian Association of Operative Research (AIRO), the Vice President of the Itaian Association for Automation (Anipla); besides he was Councillor in other scientific associations such as the "Associazione Nazionale di Impiantistica" (ANIMP) or the one of "Letture Scientifiche" in Genoa. In 1993 he was the editor of the scientific ,agazine "IMPIANTISTICA ITALIANA" and since then he has run all the courses of the "ANIMP. He was also a University Lecturer in the field of Operative Research, a professor of "Methods of Business Administration" and later Professor of "Systems of Management Control" and "Economics and Business Organization". He begun his activity in the jazz field in 1947. He recorded with Albert Nicolas, Bobby Hackett and various national groups; he played in several concerts and festivals in Italy and abroad, with famous jazz players such as Max Kaminsky, Bud Freeman, Bill Coleman, Wild Bill Davison, Billy Butterfield, Eddie Miller, Oscar Klein, Bennie Morton, Louis Nelson and Joe Venuti. He founded Monte Cauriol Chorus in 1950 and since then ha has conducted Cauriol as well as the "Cinque Terre" Chorus, since 1980, the "Mississippi Minstrels" since 1982 and the "Trio Vaudeville" since 1989. In 1993 he started a piano duet with Ljuba Pastorino. He was a solo piano and accordion in concerts. He was awarded the following prizes: "Castello d'oro" (Conegliano Veneto 1973), "La Bollente" (Acqui Terme 1990), "Rigo Musicale" (Adria 1990), "Diapason d'argento" (Lodi 1992). He is a member of the Board of Director and President of the Artistic Commission of the "Associazione Cori Liguri". He is a member of the Artistic Commission of the FE.N.I.A.R.CO (Fed. Naz. Associazioni Regionali Corali). He was one of the judges in national chorus competitions in Ivrea, Adria, Genova, Savignone, S.Daniele in Friuli, and so on. He took an interest in poetry and won the prize of the "Ordine del Cardo" for his "A mountain song" and some of his poems have been recently published, while others are going to be published.
