The reason behind a name

Something similar happened at the beginning of 1950, when the new born chorus was to be baptized.
In may 1950 at the "Sportiva" in Genoa Bolzaneto (a private club in the suburb of Genoa), the chorus first appeared in public as "University Students Chorus" but according to the promoting group, that performance was to be the only one, also because the Trentine friends were supposed to go back home. However, after the third concert, someone said: "We enjoy ourselves as well as the audience. Why stop it? It would be a pity". And the chorus went on.
At that point the name at was too binding, as the choice of the new chorus-singers was restricted to the university area and it compelled them to a perpetual status of "undergraduate" students.
It was necessary to find a new name.
Names such as "Edelweiss" or "Stella Alpina" were rejected as in Genoa there were climbers associations called like that.
So it wass decided to choose the name of a famous or the name should have been a pleasant recollection for the singers whohas been "Alpini"; it might as well have been the title of a song, that would become the theme-tune of the chorus itself.
They rejected "Monte Canino", referring to a beautiful song, but that might lead to be ironical about the talent of the singers; at last they choose Cauriol, a mountain with had all the above mentioned characteristics and also connected to to the "Alpini" of Liguria, as the battalion Pieve di Teco had taken part in war operations on that mountain.
It was an original, a bit esotic and mysterious name, and even nowadays we do not know its exact pronunciation.
Cauriol means roe-buck, and the members of the chorus were called "cauriolini" which brings to mind images of agility and slenderness.
